Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is an embedded concept and an essential part of every project and program design. Business and governance environment today requires M&E functions to be incorporated into the organizational culture and work routine as it is ideally understood as a dialogue on development and its progress among all stakeholders.
Although the term ‘Monitoring and Evaluation’ tends to go together as if it is only one thing monitoring and evaluation are, in fact, two distinct sets of organizational activities. Monitoring is the routine and systematic collection of information against a plan. The information might be about activities, products or services, users, or outside factors affecting the organization or project. Evaluation is about using monitoring and other information you collect to make judgments about the value of any component of an organization or its projects, products, services or benefits or about the organization as a whole.
